Lawrence Badash

Lawrence Badash was a professor of history of science, specializing in the history of nuclear technology. At the 2010 Company of Ideas Forum, Badash presented a paper entitled “Nuclear Winter and the End of the Age of Agriculture.” In alignment with Jeffrey Rubinoff’s profound interest in the “end of the Age of Agriculture,” Badash explores the intersection between the scientific and social potential repercussions of nuclear disaster. Later that year this paper was published in the journal Historia scientiarum, 2010, vol. 20, no2, pp. 150–163, History of Science Society of Japan, Tokyo.
Badash holds a BS in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a PhD in the history of science from Yale. He taught at the University of California, Santa Barbara for over 36 years. Additionally, Badash has been a NATO Postdoctoral Science Fellow at Cambridge University as well as a Guggenheim Fellow.
